About Lauren

Lauren Fisch, MS, DTR, LMT, is a New York State licensed Massage Therapist, a Dance/Movement Therapist and a Yoga Instructor. She holds a B.S. in Dance Education from New York University and an M.S. in Dance/Movement Therapy from Hunter College. She received her training in massage therapy at the Swedish Institute in NYC; her training in shiatsu at the Ohashi Institute in NYC; and her training in yoga at the Integral Yoga Institute in NYC. She completed a training in mindfulness based stress reduction under the direction of Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn.

Lauren has worked in a wide range of clinical settings with diverse patient populations, including inpatient psychiatric patients, medical patients, hospice patients and the private sector.

Lauren was the Clinical Services Coordinator of the Columbia Integrative Medicine Program, directed by Dr. Mehmet Oz at New York Presbyterian Hospital. She worked with patients and their family members to aid them in preparing for open heart surgery. She provided post-operative massage therapy to patients and conducted gentle cardiac yoga classes for post-op patients. Lauren also founded and directed an employee wellness program at the hospital. She provided chair massage to nursing and medical staff in the OR and on the cardiac units. Lauren created a Yoga for the Healthy Heart video that was utilized in a research study for women undergoing cardiac rehabilitation.
